God healed me today. Twice.
It was during the fifth kilometre of the 10K marathon that I needed to finish. I was already struggling through, walking more often than I was jogging, feet aching, legs throbbing, and heart burning, when I felt the familiar signs of the stitch in my side that is every runner’s bane.
For a second I thought of giving up. It was just too much, getting harder and harder to breathe. I didn’t train, hadn’t had breakfast, wasn’t able to sleep properly — I really should’ve just stopped the madness right there and then.
But I decided to pray. I laid my right hand on that side, pressing down on the part that hurt, and prayed for a miracle. You know how you can shout in your mind? I did that.
LORD, YOU ARE LORD OF ALL! You are miracle maker! You are healer! And I command this pain to go away in Jesus’ name! I reject and rebuke this pain, reject and rebuke this name, and YOU WILL PREVAIL OVER THIS!
I thought this over and over again, while walking fast. Runners were steaming past me on either side. As far as they were concerned I was just another runner in pain, but little did they know that as I was raising my other hand to the heavens I wasn’t “stretching it out”. I was desperately worshipping and proclaiming and declaring over and over again that I am healed in His name.
The effect was instantaneous. The pain began to fade quickly. My need was great, and my need was immediate, and God sent down His healing upon me right there and then.
And then He did it again on the eighth kilometre.
This isn’t my first miracle. He has healed me many times before, of countless afflictions, whether I’ve prayed for it or not. But I will never stop testifying. I am a constant witness to His power.
My God is healer, and no one can ever tell me otherwise.
