“Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!”
Acts of the Apostles 16:26 NLT
“All the doors immediately flew open” When I was still leading in the pastoral several years ago, there was a season when all the people we seemed to have in the life group were either looking for work, or renewing their passes. Those who were new here in Singapore would also invite their friends over, and then it would be their turn to look for a job, and the cycle begins again.
It seemed like every month we would be going to Malaysia or to Indonesia with someone new, hoping to extend social visit stays within the bounds of what the government allows, all while waiting for pass approvals to push through.
And whenever the passes were approved it was always a celebration! We would thank Jesus for the testimony, welcome them back and cook something special, and let everyone know that another prayer was answered. Another door has been opened.
Every time it happens, I am still amazed.
The prisoners must have felt so relieved when those door flew open. It was an answer to a prayer they didn’t even have. And it happened in the most unusual way.
What door are you waiting for today? Is it external – a job application, a pass approval, a visa application? Is it internal – healing for your body, clarity for your mind, peace for your soul?
Pray on it. Wait on it. And when the time comes that they fly open, celebrate.
