Moses and The Burning Bush
Exodus 3:1-14

So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

Exodus 3:10

A family was walking down the city streets one night, happy to be spending time together after watching a movie.  In a dark alley, a thief tries to rob them, grabbing the mother’s string of pearls, threatening them with a gun.  The father reacts, going for the gun, trying to save his wife.  The thief panics, shoots the parents, and runs off.  Thus starts Bruce Wayne’s story as a poor orphaned emo rich boy, forever trying to rid the world of bad guys like that thief that killed his parents.

This is Batman’s origin story.  It is the moment that defined his very identity; the one that decided the purpose of the rest of his life.

Now this is all so dramatic and cinematic, because it has to be.  It’s fiction.  It has to entertain and capture our imagination.  However, in real life, we all have moments like this as well.  Moments that define us.  Moments that show us greater insights, and deeper meanings; moments that allow us to read between the lines of the story of our lives that is constantly being written.

Origin stories in the Bible can be so compelling.  Peter was scared into submission. Paul had to be blinded into acceptance.  Hundreds of thousands were martyred in order for believers everywhere to continue in their faith.

Our moments don’t have to be so over the top.  But they are still spectacular in their own right, because God gave them to us.  Each testimony is yours in a way that is special and unique, just as you are individually special and unique in God’s eyes.

For as long as we live, there will always be stories.  If we let it, every day can be a new testimony.  The question is what you are going to do with yours today.
