Christmas 2024 Fasting: God’s Promises

Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting,
“Clear the way through the wilderness
for the Lord!
Make a straight highway through the wasteland
for our God!

Isaiah 40:3 NLT

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Matthew 1:22-23

The most ironclad of clauses, in the strongest, most lawyered up contracts, signed by all the leaders of the nations in the entire world, cast in stone or burned into stainless steel, and encased in carbon fiber for added protection, do not, can not, will never ever compare to a simple promise spoken by God Himself.

He said, unto us a child is born.

He said, they will call Him Immanuel.

He said, He will be God on earth, and will walk among us.

And it was so.

The moment of Jesus’ birth was the fulfilment of the prophecies that God had revealed to generations before Him. The reality of the Messiah shows that when God makes a statement, He fulfills it. Jesus graced us with His physical presence, walking the roads of the earth with His own feet, casting footprints in the dust. He experienced sorrows and joys, felt pain and anger and elation and grief. He was real.

And He is real.

He is the love that was promised, and the love which we hold in our hearts even now, and until forever.
