”May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.“
Ephesians 3:19-20 NLT
“I know enough to know that I don’t know enough.”
In my first job 22 years ago, I said this statement to my boss when she asked if we can pitch for a project that required Java application programming. This language has never been part of my skill set, before or since. I got some raised eyebrows when they heard me say that, because apparently, you’re not supposed to say “no” to the boss.
I was proud of that moment though, because I felt like it was a very adult insight to have, unprompted and very uncharacteristic for a newbie, at her first real job no less.
Twenty-two years later and I still don’t know enough. About technology. About the world. About anything really.
And I thank God for that self-awareness. Because it keeps me open to the joy of discovery, to the satisfaction of first hand experience, to the wonder of creation.
I am still constantly being surprised by the goodness of God. At His amazing love. And for the myriad ways that He has of manifesting His love in our lives.
And though it is too great to understand fully, I embrace the challenge, and by His mighty power, expect to accomplish infinitely more than I might ask or think.
