For better, for worse

When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider this:
God has made the one
as well as the other.
Therefore, no one can discover
anything about their future.

Ecclesiastes 7:14

Dearly beloved,
Is your life right now like a bed of roses, is it always sunrise and everything is falling perfectly into place? If it is, then I am rejoicing and am celebrating with you. Or do you feel that you are in a valley right now, that it is always evening and no chance of seeing the sun again, or maybe it seems like there is no way to get out of that bondage or that sickness and that you are already in a furnace and fire seems to devour you? If it is my beloved, then I am here to tell you, you are not alone and I am here walking you through.

Remember my 3 sons, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they are being thrown into the furnace? Maybe your situation is not as worse as them or maybe just maybe, you are in a situation that is far worse. I want to tell you, the same God who walked with them inside the furnace is the same God who I and will be walking with you in every difficult situation. And the same God who promoted them after coming out from the furnace unharmed is the same God who will be celebrating with you in your triumph.

My Beloved, always remember, before I formed you in your mother’s womb I already knew you and I have great plans for you and nothing can stop me from fulfilling it. As your Father, my love for you is so great, so wide and so deep and never in my heart will I desire harm for you. Whether your life is in the mountain high or in the valley low, look at the finished work of my Son Jesus at the cross.

My Beloved, for better or for worse, I, your Father in Heaven, will never leave you nor forsake you. I Love You.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6

There are some people who believe in “destiny” or “fate” or “luck”, a sort of vague, undefinable, unreliable something that would dictate their lot in life.

On the other end of the spectrum are those that believe that all is chaos, and that things happen as they happen, with nothing, no outside force, that could influence things, and no one that they can rely on but themselves.  They are born, they do stuff, and then they die.

I used to think like the latter type of person.  Before I knew any better, the only thing that mattered was /right now/. And the only one who mattered was /me/.  I’m the only one who can effect change in my life, or so I thought.

I was so so wrong.

Because that’s not how life is meant to be lived.  If we rely only on ourselves for everything, then we would get nowhere.  Or we would get somewhere, have some semblance or success, enjoy a modicum of happiness.  But it would all be fleeting, and temporary, and shallow, and dull.

Life is meant to be lived to the fullest, and in order to do that, we are meant to believe in God and accept Him in our hearts.
