For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18
Just as true and powerful supernatural healing that comes from God is only available to those who believe in Him wholeheartedly, so too is the Word of God effective and powerful only for believers who have a personal relationship with Christ. We take comfort in the Word, and know that we can find solace in its pages if ever we need it. We take instruction and guidance from it, knowing that we can live our lives according to God’s will, and that God’s will can be found in the Bible alone.
We take His message seriously, acknowledge its saving power, and follow it with no compromises.
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
1 Corinthians 1:25
Sometimes, the Word can be misinterpreted. This can be done intentionally, with malice aforethought, as by someone who is trying to be sarcastic, or using just bits and pieces of the Word to drive home a point, or mangling the entire meaning in order to justify their own situations, usually in an effort to compromise on their values in favor of their own personal gain or comfort.
Other times, and this is a trap that can sometimes be harder to spot, it can be done innocently, because of general foolishness, or a lack of knowledge of the Bible, or a lifelong unfamiliarity with it. This becomes a sin when, once made aware of the sin, the person who does it does not seek correction, and forces his own explanation as truth.
No matter what the reason, God is the only source of wisdom, and the only rectification for either is the constant and consistent study of the Word, together with earnest praying to God. There can be no other source of wisdom or strength than God alone.
Prayer
You are my hiding place
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance
Whenever I am afraid I will trust in You
(I will trust in You)
Let the weak say I am strong
In the strength of my Lord
