Storytelling: Uncle Kroc the Crocodile
Uncle Kroc is a crocodile who was looking for food along the River Nile when he witnessed the time that Baby Moses was dropped in a basket and picked up by the Egyptian princess, to be raised as royalty.

Thank you Uncle Kroc for not eating us! Wow. A real live crocodile, here in church — who knew??!

Anyway, apart from not eating us, we should thank Uncle Kroc for telling us about the story of Baby Moses, who was so so special indeed. You see, when he was born, the Pharaoh had ordered all the Israelite baby boys to be killed. But instead of dying, he was 1) saved from the enemy and 2) adopted by the princess herself!

I Am Special!

Like Baby Moses, we are also special in the eyes of God. Say, “I am special!” Shout it out! Cause it’s true.

Look at the one sitting beside you. Do you look the same? Even identical twins will not look exactly the same in every way. He made everyone completely different.

Take a look at your palms. Do you notice that they’re not exactly the same? No one, not one person on earth, will have the same lines on their hands. See, even within your own self, God has put His special marks!

This is a live count and animation of how many people are being born, created by God, every minute and every second. 7.7 billion (not hundred thousand, not million). Every one of them different, every one of them special.

Image result for 7.7billion

7.7 billion people on earth, but only one, standing here, with this mark on this hand. 7.7 billion people on earth, billions of other boys and girls, and only one sitting there, with those marks on those hands.

And what do we do with that information? What can we say to that? I’m going to ask you to do three things now.

I have written your name on the palms of my hands.

Isaiah 49:16a NIRV

Hold out your hand, and put it over your heart, and say, “I am special.” You are written on the palms of God’s hands, and He knows you by name. He knows you down to your very soul.

He even counts every hair on your head!

Matthew 10:30 NIRV

Now, hold out your hand, and put it over your head, and say, “I am special.” God knows everything about you, what you can do, what you can’t do, what you are thinking, and even what you are planning to do.

Lift up your hands in the temple and praise the Lord.

Psalm 134:2 NIRV

Now hold up your hand, and lift it up to God, and say, “I am special!” Knowing what we know about being created special by God, this is exactly what we should do about it — we glorify Him!

Remember that baby in the basket, the one that the crocodile almost ate because it looked so delicious and special? He was adopted by the princess of Egypt at that time, and he grew up to be the great Moses! That’s how God treats His special children!

LG Discussion

What makes you special? In an A4 piece of paper, trace the outline of your hand. All the answers for the questions below will be written on each finger.

  1. Something special you can do with your body, or a unique characteristic/trait that you have (i.e. can curl your tongue, can wiggle your ears, have an extra toe, etc)
  2. Something only you can do among your friends or family (i.e. can read one book a day, can do a somersault, can cook adobo, etc.)
  3. A special habit that you have, or that you like doing (i.e. likes to read the Bible, likes to take long walks by yourself, likes to go fishing)
  4. A places that special to you for some reason (i.e. your room, a certain section of the library, a favorite place in the park)
  5. Something special you would like to learn to do one day (i.e. play the piano, make a movie, play a sport)

In all the things that you did above, how do you think you can give glory to God (for younger kids: thank Him for what He’s done)?
