The Kitchen

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Psalm 34:8

The Kitchen is usually referred to as the heart of the home. Providing warmth, comfort, and sustenance, the kitchen represents a place where one can be cared for, provided for, and fed.

We often say that we are hungry for the Lord. That we thirst for His presence. That we long for His Spirit. These metaphors are used because they are easily relatable. When we are starving, we are empty and weak. Hunger messes with the mind, affects the way we think and feel. It can interfere with our decisions, and negatively impact our emotions if we let it.

Let this be a reminder for us today that God is always ready to provide that warmth, that comfort. He is an infinite provider of that sustenance of every need. His “kitchen”, His heart, is always open, always ready to feed us.

It is up to us to step in and receive.
