Remy is an excellent preschool teacher. She has a heart and a genuine passion for teaching and taking care of children that goes beyond her work duties. She has told me before that she has had an opportunity to switch jobs to one that is higher paying, and with better hours, but she refused to do so, even if it is legally possible for her, because she doesn’t want to leave her current workplace in the middle of a difficult time for the center, as they were recently seeking for a reinstatement of their government certificate.
She knew her leaving would make it difficult for them, and she just couldn’t abide by that.
Remy is a wonderful cook. This was her first roster in the lifegroup, and she says she only learned her more complicated creations here in Singapore. I believe her good food stems from the fact that she has a penchant for making sure that the people around her are all comfortable and well-fed. There is a mothering instinct about her that is inherent in the way that she cares for people around her, no matter who.
She makes people around her feel loved.
Remy is a loyal friend, a loving daughter, a concerned family member. She is my sister’s roommate and close friend since college; she is my beloved housemate; workout buddy and trusted confidante since early this year.
I have known her since she first met Jesus, received Him in her heart, and started to get closer and closer to Him. I have seen her grow and flourish in the church. I have heard her questions, and her equable response to each.
She has allowed the Spirit to lead her in every step of her journey. Ever since she answered the call to serve, she has not swayed in the slightest from the path, no matter how difficult it gets.
Remy is now also, unequivocally, unquestionably, a leader in God’s church.
Currently, she is leading a life group as apprentice leader, but there is no doubt in my mind, and in the group that she is leading, that she is already the Life Group Leader in all but title.
She guides her core team with a firm hand, tempered by the gentle words of God. She cares for her people with a big heart, her sweetness overflowing into the things that does for them out of love.
She is also serving in the ushering ministry as a team leader, and in the kids ministry as a builder.
She is beautiful inside and out. And I love her.
I miss her
