The marks of a living thing are as follows:
- having an organised structure
- requiring energy
- responding to stimuli and adapting to environmental changes
- being capable of reproduction, growth, movement, metabolism, and death
In a way, we should be thinking of our life groups in the same sense. After all, it is a created thing that was instituted by God, intentionally formed as an extension of His Church and His Family. Life groups are an environment that allows us to enact his Mission and calling. They are a thriving ecosystem that give us space and agency to actively answer God’s command to love another.
If we think of our life groups in this manner, as living things that should be cherished and nourished, and consider the characteristics that they should have, it is easier to compartmentalise what we should do in order to ensure its continued flourishing growth, and exponential reproduction.
