The Source of Power

This is part of a series called Living Life Groups, Loving God. Read the introduction here.

A life group requires energy

For living things, the energy that they draw from comes in the form of the various fuels required to ensure the continued survival of a cell. This might be in the form of light (photosynthesis), organic substances like glucose (sugar!), or other such chemically related requirements.

The direct comparison to our life groups is none other than the Holy Spirit.

Yes, this is what Life Groups need to survive! A steady and constant source, an infinite supply of power from which we can draw strength and wisdom.

And the way to harness this power is by none other than praise and worship.

When you open yourself up to the unbridled, unhindered worship of God, you can visualise yourself as a wide open container, free and welcoming of the overflowing of power that the Holy Spirit is waiting to pour out.

A life group that doesn’t praise God will not survive. It does not fall under our definition of a living thing, and it will certainly perish. If the members are not surrendered fully unto Jesus in their worship, there is nothing that fuels them, and they will not be able to sustain their relationship with God for very long. Their hearts will suffer, and therefore the life group will suffer.

Living life groups require energy ➤ the Holy Spirit is that energy ➤ praise and worship is the key to accessing that energy.
